Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
