Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret sect.
The mission centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking sequence showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
